Memorial March Overview

On Wednesday, August 28,  people from across the country will travel to Washington DC to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the historic 1963 March on Washington.  In Boston the 50th Anniversary will be marked with the Memorial March for Peace.  The March honors the lives of those lost to violence, the enduring spirits of their families and all those who work for peace. Marchers will carry signs with pictures of loved ones and messages of peace.

The Boston Schedule for August 28, 2013 is:

1:00 PM- Marchers and supporters will gather at the Garden of Peace in downtown Boston (100 Cambridge St) for a prayer vigil.

1:45 PM   The entire group will proceed to the steps of the State House for a moment of silence at 2:00.

2:00 PM   Marchers will depart, marching down Beacon street and ending at First Baptist Church in Newton for a 7:00 PM Interfaith Gathering.

7:00 PM – Interfaith Gathering, First Baptist Church, 848 Beacon Street, Newton Centre

The March is co-sponsored by Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), City Mission Society of BostonCooperative Metropolitan Ministries, the Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy and the Tracing Center
