Prince of Darkness visits BU on book tour

International music icon Ozzy Osbourne greeted fans and Boston University students to sign copies of his new autobiography, “I Am Ozzy” at the Barnes and Noble bookstore Thursday night.
About 1,000 people waited in line to have their books signed by the “Prince of Darkness.”
The memoir chronicles the events of the 61-year-old heavy-metal icon’s life, or what he says he remembers of it.
“What you read here is what dribbled out of the jelly I call my brain when I asked it for my life story,” Osbourne wrote in the book’s introduction.
Members of the crowd waiting to see Osbourne varied from die-hard fans to young children waiting with their parents.
Some, like high school student David Folkins, waited for hours just to catch a glimpse of the musician.
“We’ve been here since seven this morning,” he said. “I skipped school to come here.”
Nick Calnan, 12, of Haverhill said he was thrilled he was able to meet Osbourne.
Calnan, a member of the Black Diamonds Rock School Band, said he was inspired by Ozzy to play the drums.
